Surface Dressing is a long established and much used technique for resealing and restoring the skid resistance of our highways. Traditionally surface dressing in Northern Ireland has been carried out using the Recipe Specification in accordance with Clause 919 of the Specification for Highway Works.
With a proposed move to Clause 922; Surface Dressing: Design, Application and End Product Performance, Contractors will be responsible for the design of the Surface Dressing, choice of materials, techniques and processes used. The proposed Surface Dressing shall comply with BS EN 12271 and it shall be CE marked.
This will be a major change to Surface Dressing operations here and the presentations will examine some of the ways in which any changes may be addressed.
