Details
Self-healing bituminous materials represent a promising approach to extending the lifespan of asphalt pavements and advancing the development of carbon-neutral roads. In this webinar, the speaker will present an overview of his research on emerging technologies that improve the self-healing properties of bituminous materials, with a focus on waste valorisation to develop more sustainable and resilient road infrastructure.
Dr Norambuena-Contreras is a Senior Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department at Swansea University, UK, where he leads the Materials Transition theme at the Materials and Manufacturing Research Institute and heads the Advanced Bituminous Materials Lab. His research focuses on self-healing bituminous materials, driven by a vision of waste valorisation combined with AI-driven computational design to develop net-zero roads.
