The purpose of the UKAS Infrastructure TAC is to advise UKAS on technical / policy matters within its scope concerned with the development and operation of accredited activities within the highways and infrastructure sectors.  In particular, to respond to the requirements of UKAS for advice on specific technical issues, including:

•    The formulation and review of specific technical criteria to facilitate effective and consistent application of UKAS’ activities.
•    The acceptability of procedures as a basis for accreditation.
•    The identification of potential assessors / experts and sources of assessors / experts.
•    The need for and conduct of proficiency testing and interlaboratory comparisons.
•    The impact of European and other international initiatives.
•    The need for the establishment of specialist task forces.

Frequency is expected to be biannually and Alan Ferguson gives IAT representation on this committee. An example of interaction might be where BS test methods are found to be unachievable. As well as informing the relevant BS committee laboratories can bring these issues to this forum through Alan Ferguson, a member of the IAT Technical Committee.
